<p>This resource has been designed to give a gentle introduction of the BTEC course to Year 10 learners. By the end of the lesson they will be able to understand what is meant by PIES (physical, intellectual, emotional and social) development which underpins all topics covered within the course. The lesson then goes on to briefly explain the content of the course, then introduces the life stages and the difference between growth and development.</p>

<p>This resource is designed to give a gentle and very brief introduction to the course, and to introduce the first unit of study, R058. It includes a curriculum slide to be used and updated every lesson. It then directs students for the focus of the lesson and what they need to learn. It includes expectations of students during the course, It then moves on to explain the aim of R058, with tasks and resources for the lesson. Timings can be altered to suit each group/cohort.</p>

<p>This lesson will help establish what is meant by healthy and unhealthy relationships. Lots of group work and discussions, plus students enjoy the caring hands activity.</p>

<p>This resource is designed to give students information about the hormonal changes in adolescence and a light hearted look at body changes. It also incorporates a video clip of Kevin the Teenager which students enjoy. I have also designed a workbook which can be printed off and used in conjunction with the PowerPoint. The resource also helps students to examine the impact of body changes on emotional wellbeing.</p>
