The Story of Democracy: A class assembly with characters from 'Back to the Future'

(0)
A class assembly on the story of democracy, as our current topic is Ancient Greece and we've just had Parliament week! Once the children heard that the script might involve time travel they were very keen for characters from Back to the Future to be incorporated, so here we are!

The assembly was very successful and it was very fun to perform. There are 26 speaking parts (some quite long, some a few lines, some quite brief) plus a variable number of readers for a welcome speach and prayer. The final length of the performance was 20 minutes.

Ordering decimal numbers- an ICT activity to target misconceptions.

This resource contains an EXCEL spreadsheet that ‘builds’ decimal numbers out of units, tenths and hundredths and allows pupils to compare them and sort them in order of size. There is also a worksheet which gives sets of numbers to order; pupils are directed to try ordering these, then feed the numbers into the spreadsheet and see if they were correct. You can use the spreadsheet with or without the worksheet, or think up your own activities for pupils to do. The sets of numbers given on the worksheet are designed to target as wide a range as possible of these misconceptions.
