I created this to reduce marking time - it definitely has and is easily editable with DIRT tasks whilst still providing opportunity for personal and quality feedback for students.

An intro lesson used with Year 7 to reflect upon what mediation is and why it is used within Buddhism. I do a 15/20 'mindfulness' session with students so that they can reflect upon how 'useful' it could be. Conclusive summary enables students to demonstrate their k&u of the lesson.

<p>Here is a complete SOW, with resources fully planned and ready to teach. I have not simply adapted old resources, all lessons have been planned according to the guidance (what little there is!) of the new specification. There are opportunities for assessment and there is different question types and mark schemes embedded through-out the SOW. I have included notes at the bottom of the slides for how I envisage I will teach it, but as with any lesson, your ideas of how to deliver might be different. <p>Buddhism - Karma KS3 or can develop into KS4</p> <p>Students should understand by the end of the lesson that Karma affects the cycle of Samsara.</p>

<p>With the KS4 GCSE RS, my students often find it a real challenge to apply Islamic quotes to their exam answers. This worksheet provides students with a summary of key quotes and students use this by interpreting the quotes and relating it to specific topics in order to inform revision.</p>

<p>Here are the resources and scheme of work needed to teach the ‘Buddhist Beliefs’ section of the Edexcel new spec RS GCSE. Totally transferrable to AQA too. Having now taught this Scheme of Work, I think some of the language of complex (but necessary) and may need to be simplified for your class. I have tried to plan this using a range of activity ideas and resources and as far as possible, have included the relevant worksheets / articles / links etc within the PPTs or SOW. Used with Year 8 looking at how the idea of Karma and Reincarnation affects the lives of Hindu believers. The concept or the caste system is explored with some great opportunities for high order thinking!

This resources looks at the role of Ruby Bridges and Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights Movement. There is a link to an emotive video clip that outlines the to a certain extent the horror that black people faced before the 1970s. Extended writing activity at the end which can be used for assessment purposes.

I have put this together for mixed ability Year 8 - there is a lot of slides as I know that at my school, it will promote a lot of discussion and debate. This could easily be broken down into a market place style activity where students are gathering different bits of information. The idea of the worksheet, found on the last slide is that they will complete the first 3 questions as a starter to show prior knowledge, make some relevant notes through-out and then re-draft the same 3 questions at the end, considering discussions/learning that has taken place. I hope you can make sense of it as I am yet to write a formal lesson plan.
