Introduction to Loci - no worksheets needed
Teaching loci often involves lots of photocopied worksheets, so I wanted something that I could display on the board that needed little preparation.
Pupils should have prior knowledge of perpendicular bisectors and angle bisectors.
The first page involves pupils working out four loci. They should follow the instructions, place points that fit into the rule and see what the pattern the loci will make.
The loci are:
Points 6cm from a point.
Points 4cm from a line.
Points equidistant from two points.
Points closer to one line than another.
After these four examples on the first page there are five others for pupils to attempt that build on the skills used in the first four. They all start from a 8cm by 6cm rectangle so pupils can easily put them in their books without worksheets.
Answers are included.
This is the first resource I have uploaded - any feedback welcome.
