This is the first lesson where they begin reading. The lesson opens by looking very closely at the first sentence and practising close analysis skills together, also considering context. This is then turned into PEE paragraph work.
The lesson then focuses on the first few pages and includes a creative and inference task based on the first impressions of the animal characters.
Although made for a top set, I found that even the less confident students in the class found this very accessible.
