This is the 4th lesson in my scheme of work for 'Animal Farm' for top set Y7.
This lesson includes reading the whole of Chapter 1 and then analysing Major's speech. The students review persuasive language devices and then apply this to Major's speech. They then write up an analysis of what Major is doing in order to persuade the animals to carry out a revolution.
There is a creative homework task at the end of this lesson to continue students' development in understanding the effects of the speech on the other animals.
