This is the fourth set of Lock down Quiz challenges (Numbers 016 to 020). Initially these quizzes were prepared for my two grand-daughters who are 9 and 11 years old. Some questions are easy others are challenging even for students in Years 10 and 11. The aim is to learn from the questions we cannot answer. These quiizzes are available to all parents and teachers who may wish to use them with their families or students at home. I have tried to make each quiz easy enough to allow youngsters to get a few correct especially at the lower age range. Even if children do not have the wide range of knowledge to answer all of the questions they can use the quiz as a fact gathering exercise by checking out the answers from the internet or other sources. I suggest the children try to answer each question without assistance for 3 points and then with help using research options (Alexa, Google etc.) for 1 bonus point. The answer sheet is equally important as I have tried to offer some wider background information about some of the topics. Going through the answer sheet is a valuable learning exercise. Doing each quiz as a family challenge may well be very entertaining (singles or pairs / with or without a quiz master?). With a quiz master there is no need to print each quiz. With teams, perhaps double points (2 points) for singles answering and one point for a shared answer. I hope you have some family fun… All the best … Ian Patterson.
