This resource includes THIRTY classical English language poems from some of the most famous and best loved poets. Each poet is profiled to add context and each poem comes with a minimum of TEN comprehension questions (answers provided). The questions are designed to capture the different ways in which poems can be analysed including (but not limited to):

rhyme scheme
rhythm
literal and metaphorical meanings
poetic devices
symbolism
poetic structure & form

The resource has been designed primarily to cater to students who are planning to take selective entry admissions tests which include a poetry component, such as 11+ or SSAT. However, the resource is not limited to this cohort and can be used with all students in the 9 - 14 age bracket. Poems and questions have been designed to reflect differing levels of ability. There is a mix of multiple choice and written response question types. There are also some extended answer questions for the more ambitious or able students. The resource is meticulously designed and visually appealing with images. The poems can be used individually as a basis for further exploration or as part of a set. There is a glossary of poetic terms at the back.

As always, if you have any questions about this resource please ask away. If you have any problems with the resource or find any typos or other errors, do let me know and I will endeavour to address the issue as soon as possible.
