This is a fully photocopiable resource for guided reading sessions developed for upper KS2 year 5 and 6. It is centred around the book Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo which has been divided into 19 reading sessions to read over 19 lessons in class. The reading plan is included. The final 20th session is a book review session.

This resource consists of 42 pages with 20 printable worksheets for 20 separate reading sessions along with answer sheets to help with marking the sessions. Designed to be photocopiable as question sheets have all been produced in black and white to make it cheaper to print.

The questions asked cover the full range of styles of questions that children are expected to answer in the end of KS2 assessment tests (SATs) and include: retrieval questions, inference question, questions demonstrating understanding of vocabulary, explanation, prediction and summary skills).
