Looking for addition games for KS1 students to practice addition to 10, 12, 20 and adding to 100? They will love these Roll and add fun summer games for kids to recall simple addition sums or addition 2-digit numbers with a tricky 7, 8 and 9 and use key maths skills to find the answers. These engaging games are perfect for the summer with a beach theme.
Students will be eager to play and work out the answers using these resources and see who can solve the most addition problems, circle the most sandcastles with their colours and claim these as theirs. Challenging the partner on whether they are adding up correctly will keep them engaged and wanting to play these games more than once.
To make this easier for those students who need manipulatives, provide counters or other maths resources you have for counting e.g. Numicon. This gives a great connection between concrete maths i.e. handling objects and the more abstract maths of using numerals and written sums. Great games to encourage adding up in our head too.
Use them in adult-led activities where you can assess their speed of recall and accuracy of working out as they play - especially as you may be thinking about end-of-year reports so this comes at the right time to evaluate how quick they are at working out e.g. 4 + 6 or 32 + 9.
Differentiation is easy - use the easier addition games up to 10 for students who need simpler additions to solve and support this with manipulatives or challenge them to add to 100.
You will get:- Game for adding to 10
- Game for adding to 12
- Game for adding to 20
- 1 game for adding to 100** (99 is the highest addition)
- Instructions for each game
- 5 dice 1 to 5, 1 to 6, 2 to 7, 5 to 10 and a die with 2 digit numbers. Instructions on the individual games explain which dice to use
- 5 spinners 1 to 5, 1 to 6, 2 to 7, 5 to 10 and a spinner with 2 digit numbers. These can be easily interchanged with dice and are easier to make
- Coloured counters to use instead of colouring this in - this makes it a faster game that can be used repeatedly.
- Patterns to add to the backs of the games to make them look more professional
This is a perfect resource to have ready for early finishers or to play as part of a lesson in pairs practicing adding and getting better at working them out. The games will make students work faster, more accurately and become more confident with addition. They are also ideal for the maths centre to play during other times when you need a quick educational resource ready e.g. wet playtime or supply days. Your students will love playing these games.
Prep is easy – Print, cut up and play…
