Students will use “A & D” (agree and disagree) statements to analyze a set of true or false statements.
Part one is students choosing whether to agree, disagree, or identify whether they need more information to decide.
Part two asks them to decide they could test their ideas to investigate the statements.
These are best used at the beginning of a learning cycle to determine students’ prior knowledge and ideas.
It is important to provide follow-up experiences for the students to investigate, particularly when their ideas and the facts don’t mesh.
