This lesson is basically an introduction to the AW unit. It includes maps and diagrams to help students understand the geography of Northern America. Crucially, it focuses on the difficulties crossing from East to West, and living on the plains. Overall, the lesson will help pupils understand how the Native American nomadic life was suited to life on the plains, and how difficult it was for early pioneers to reach the west.
