Included is a really useful writing map to encourage students to begin and develop independence when writing analytical paragraphs in English.

This student-friendly writing mat has been tried and tested within a number of classrooms by writers of varying abilities. As depicted in the photograph, the resource is set-up to follow the ‘What. Where. How. Why’ method of structuring analytical responses, developing previously learnt structures, and it consists of support questions and sentence starters to assist students at each stage of the writing process. On the back of the aid, there is also a glossary of vocabulary for students to use when writing.

I have used these within my on classroom, laminating them and storing them within a pocket on the back of my door so that students can collect them (or be given them) when needed and so that they can be re-used without damage.

Enjoy!
