Need a fun way to check understanding of vertebrate animal classification? These science foldouts are a hands-on alternative to a worksheet for reviewing animal groups, with options for your learners (matching, sorting, or writing). This resource covers the 5 vertebrate groups - mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians.

The templates

There are 3 options to choose from:

  • Template 1: Pupils colour the animals, cut out the 5 description labels, match each label to an animal group, glue, cut, and fold.
  • Template 2: Pupils colour the animals, cut out the 15 feature labels, match the labels to the animal groups on the template (where some labels are already in place), glue, cut, and fold.
  • Template 3: Writing template included with and without lines. Pupils colour the animals, use the blank boxes to describe the features of each group, cut, glue, and fold. Children could write bullet points or sentences.

A picture showing where to fold is included for pupils to reference.
