AQA GCSE English Lang Paper 1 The Silk Factory Judith Allnatt Creative reading & writing grade 9 Q1-5 November 2020 paper 1

A 43 slide powerpoint crammed full with activities, starter activity, assessment activities, grade 9 responses to each reading question 1-4 and Q5 creative writing plenaries. This really focuses on building vocabulary and language techniques, that can aid them in their own piece of creative writing. Students will be asked to build up their writing ideas by modifying basic sentences and transforming them into sophisticated sentences bringin their writing to life through using more techniques. Fog personification activity where students will receive a grade 9 paragraph full of techniques and they have to identify and highlight the techniques and then write their own. Theme of the lesson is mystery and haunted writing.

Lesson aims and objectives:
-Identify personification and create sentences using personification to bring fog to life.
-Analyse the beginning section from Judith Allnatt’s The Silk Factory for Paper 1
-Identify and discuss the difference between language and structural techniques
-Focus specifically on questions 2 to 4 in terms of developing detail and inference
-Explode and develop interpretations for Q2 language analysis
-Construct a flow chart for Q3 structure
-Develop and explain interpretation and impressions in Q4
-Review grade 9 model answers for Q1-4 looking at exploding inference using PEEL
-Complete tasks 1-4 on the reading section after build up tasks.
-Create a word bank and plan in preparation for the Q5 writing task.
-Modify basic sentences to bring your writing to life.
-Read and comment on a grade 9 piece of creative writing.
-Complete the Q5 writing task applying AFORESTRIP and punctuation variety
-Review your writing task, highlighting techniques
