An engaging, structured double lesson that helps students to develop their thinking, reading, and writing skills for GCSE English Language (or Functional Skills English) by exploring the outlandish conspiracy theory that the world is controlled by an elite group of shapeshifting ‘reptoids’.
The two main tasks are reading comprehension and SPaG-correction, both provided in a three-page handout, but the lesson’s PowerPoint also features several logic puzzles, a visually-stimulating ‘Mythical Creatures’ identification activity, and links to two interesting short videos about the topic. A teacher’s Word copy of the SPaG-correction exercise is provided, too. This should be displayed on your IWB where you and your class can correct it error-by-error together.
