This lesson / resource covers Binary Storage - Bits and Bytes and has been designed for GCSE / iGCSE Computing / ICT. This lesson covers the difference between MiB and MB which is a brand new addition to the curriculum and the difference students are now expected to understand.

It has the following learning objectives shown below:

Learning objectives/Outcomes:

  • Understand how Binary Data is stored in units: Bit, Nibble, Byte, Kilobyte, Megabyte, Gigabyte, Terabyte, Petabyte, Exabyte
  • Know the difference between MB / GB / TB/ PB / EB and Kib/ MiB / GiB / TiB / PiB/ EiB
  • Know how to calculate the number of bits in any given unit of storage size

All necessary resources to run the lessons are included in this download and all resources are for a double lesson (or two single lessons) i.e. there should be enough to content to cover around 1 hour and fifty minutes.
