Bridge Challenge - PPT, work booklets and tasks

Bridge Challenge Task
Used within D&T - gets students considering materials and their properties, design, the purpose of modelling, testing to destruction, budgeting and business skills and forces etc. Useful for team work and team bonding.

I roughly use over lessons
Lesson 1 - Intro, discussion & research
Lesson 2-3 - Design ideas and development
Lesson 4-5 - Making bridges out of materials
Lesson 6 - Testing & Evaluation

Here i have the powerpoint i use, simple work booklets which the students use. There are 2 different adapted copies, bridge images which i use for inspiration, a price list (i usually use monopoly money), assessment sheet and a simple materials property homework.

I also will set the students a task on conducting their own research for this challenge. Student usually consider what shapes are the strongest etc.
