Revision workbook for B1 of unit 5 (Principles and Applications 2) Applied Science BTEC level 3. Cell transport mechanisms.
This 12-page notebook can be used for notetaking during lessons to encourage students to make their own notes rather than copying from a PowerPoint. Students will have to think carefully to make relevant notes on the different topics.
Alternatively, this notebook can be used for revision purposes by encouraging students to fill in the sections without looking at their notes. The test your knowledge page at the end also serves to check their understanding.
A completed notebook is available as well as a self-test version so that students can check their answers against sample answers by clicking a link.

The revision notebook includes the full requirements of the specification including:
• The structure of the cell membrane
• The structure and polar nature of the phospholipid
• Why the phospholipids form a bilayer
• The need for transport across the membrane
• Which substances can or cannot cross the phospholipid bilayer
• Diffusion across the membrane
• Facilitated diffusion
• Active transport using pumps
• Active transport using co-transport mechanisms
• Osmosis
• Endocytosis and exocytosis
• The implications of surface area to volume ratio
• The need for specialised exchange surfaces
• A test your knowledge page

Other revision notebooks available for this unit:
• Cardiovascular system
• Ventilation and gas exchange
• Urinary system

If you are not sure if it will meet your needs, why not try the ventilation and gas exchange notebook for free link

Illustrated revision notebooks are also available for Principles and Applications 1 (unit 1).
