Nibbana NO PREP teaching pack is fully resourced, lasts 2-3 periods, and it is suitable for the new Higher Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies (in Scotland); OCR AS and A-level, Religious Studies (Developments in Buddhist Thought); AQA A-level Religious Studies, Component 2: Study of religion and dialogues; WJEC Eduqas, A level in Religious Studies, A Study of Religion, and Edexcel A Level Religious Studies, Study of Religion.

This well-structured lesson aims to help students interact in a meaningful way with this topic, through a mixture of engaging activities which ensure high-quality learning experiences for all students: think-pair-share, brainstorming, group activities, 3:3:1, class discussions, exit tickets etc.

The principles and strategies of formative assessment are embedded in the lesson and all activities are linked to success criteria. The activities proved to be very successful in helping students consolidate their knowledge and understanding of Nibbana.

Learning Intentions: the lesson is designed to help most pupils to:

  • explain the meaning of Nibbana
  • analyse the Mahayana and Theravada views about Nibbana
  • identify benefits and difficulties of this teaching

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. The PowerPoint, created with clearly defined progression and eye-catching images, can be used to boost vocabulary, to consolidate understanding and encourage confident thinking.
  2. The animation added to all slides helps teachers to pause whenever necessary to explain, expand or clarify any questions pupils may have. Should the teacher want to add other pieces of information which he/she thinks are relevant to Nibbana, or to change the order of the slides, this PowerPoint is fully editable to allow all of these.
  3. If you need to leave this with a supply teacher, this NO PREP resource is the perfect solution: the resource contains everything needed to deliver the lesson. The lesson is easy to follow and fun to teach. Just download, print and go!
