I use this task as a mini plenary or starter or a form of revision, each time a student answers as question correctly they can choose a block to remove, they then attempt to guess what the picture is showing and how it links to what we have learnt. The process is repeated until students can guess it.
To add a picture past it and shape it to whole screen. Then send the image to the back for it to be behind the numbers that disappear.

This works really well for historical sources but also other images and diagrams.
