Looking for Christmas Families Algebra Games for your students? These easy-prep & fun games use algebra as students solve equations and play popular games such as Families, Go Fish and Snap. They work out a value by solving maths equations and matching these to other algebraic equations. Students will practice key maths skills using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages and square numbers as they solve equations.

Students will be eager to play and work out the answers and see who can solve the most Christmas algebra equations, matching the answers of the different calculations. Challenging the partner on whether they are calculating correctly will keep them engaged and wanting to play these games more than once.

Differentiation is easy as there are 8 calculations to choose from for each of the 30 numbers (so 240 equations to balance).

Setting up is quick and instructions for 3 games are included and easy to follow. Decide whether there are 3 or 4 cards per ‘Family’ of numbers before you start - there are instructions for both games.

Here is what you will get:
  • 30 numbers each with 8 calculations ranging from easy to hard
  • Different clipart for each number so players know whether they are correct for quick self-assessment
  • maths skills that will be used are equations using doubling, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, percentages, square numbers, cube numbers, square roots and brackets. Choose the skills you would like your students to apply - there are 8 options per number so it is easy to differentiate
  • Instructions or directions explaining how to play 3 games - Families, Fishing, Snap
  • Cards showing what numbers are used in which games - underline the numbers for the games you have prepared - easy to do and great for differentiation e.g. you might want to choose just 10 numbers for one group and 20 numbers for different groups - or so there is a great choice
  • Teaching notes and suggestions
  • 5 patterns to add to the back of the game (use a different pattern for the easier or harder games to make organizing easy)

This is a perfect resource to have ready for early finishers or to play as part of an algebra lesson in small groups. The games will make students work faster, and become more accurate and confident in solving equations.

These games are perfect for Christmas activities with cute clipart which will keep your students engaged. Students love learning in fun ways and these maths activities will help to practice their maths skills so that algebra becomes easier to understand. They will make connections through a shared fun learning experience and increase their mathematical skills in the process – a win-win situation.
