You are an ecologist on a mission to find out how to encourage sustainable sand dune development. Throughout the game you will encounter chance cards that present various scenarios, both positive and negative, reflecting real-world challenges and opportunities faced during each stage of dune progression. You should aim to create a thriving coastal ecosystem and mitigate potential ecological threats.
This game is a simulation that takes players through the stages of coastal dune ecosystem evolution. Divided into five stages, each representing a distinct phase of dune development.
The game highlights the dynamic nature of coastal dune ecosystems, where environmental processes, human activities, and natural events interact. It helps students understand the life cycle of an developing psammosere system and introduces lots of appropriate terminology in context.
These resources are ideal for determining student understanding of the intricacies of dune development, but equally could be used to introduce the concepts from scratch, especially with more able classes.
