Create your own MONSTER - NO PREP Halloween Craft Activity

Kids love to make things their own, so this year, why not help them create their very own monster? This is a low-prep Halloween craft activity, which can lead to a variety of different tasks.

Print the templates from this pack in color and allow children to choose their monster outline and monster features. Then they can cut and stick to create their own monster. These could be laminated and used as a Halloween display or these could be used as the start of a task.

Extension ideas:

• Create a family of monsters; find similarities between monsters and make a class (or small group) family tree.
• Give your monster a backstory; when was it born? Did it go to school? When did it turn green? Students could create a timeline of their monster’s story.
• Top Trump cards: Once children have made their monster, they could take photos of their monster and shrink the photo to a quarter of the page. Underneath they could grade their monster on Speed, Strength, Friendliness, height, and weight. This could be created as a shared class document and then you (the teacher) can print these off, laminate, and cut and you have a class set of monster top trump cards. (These also make great gifts!)
• Story writing; these are great story writing prompts because children have likely already created a story as to why their monster wears these glasses or this hat etc.
