Are you looking for a fun and creative way to teach decimals? I used this resource with my Year 5 / 6 class to visualise decimal numbers and understand the concept of tenths, hundredths and thousandths. Children colour in a tenths (can be made into a bookmark), hundreds or thousandths grid (collaborative art opportunity - ten 100 square grids) and then fill in the accompanying table to record the fraction, decimal and percentage of each colour. There are also some accompanying adding fractions or adding decimals worksheets that children can use - generating their own questions based on the colours that they used in their art. Once complete, they can be put up on the wall to make a bright, eye-catching display.

Included in this resource:

Page 1 - tenths bookmarks

Page 2 - tenths recording table

Page 3 - hundredths grid and recording table

Page 4 - thousandths (x2 hundred grids which you print out x5 times and slice)

Page 5 - thousandths recording table

Page 6 - adding decimals
