I created this activity as there was nothing available at KS3 level. I wanted to run a digital forensics activity during our enrichment week, the penultimate week of the summer term, and this is the result. I worked with Years 7 and 8 to investigate a suspect and a crime. The pack includes a teacher guide and many supporting documents.
In order to deliver the activity, teachers will need to make some changes to the information presented to pupils, e.g. edit the information to reflect the name of your chosen suspect, create a free email account in their name and set up a password that can be discovered using the wordsearch and pack information.
There are some files included that need to be saved to flash drives and the recycle bin on a batch of laptops. So there is a bit of setup work, but I was delighted with how the activity went. It was pitched at exactly the right level for our able independent prep school pupils. The activity took two 2 hour sessions to complete, and can be done over a half term. I have also included a Google quiz about general computer science information that could be added on as an extension task. The form is self marking.
