This lesson is designed to take student through the chunking experiment that links to capacity and duration in the MSM. It has full instruction to explain how to get started and a printable results table for students to gather the raw data. It provides a good opportunity to link in to research methods and develop student’s understanding of and ability to write about how research in psychology works.
It is accompanied by a help sheet for students to write up the experiment once they’ve carried it out. This could be given as a homework task following the DIY lesson.
Both these resources link to pages 125-126 of the new spec (OCR)textbook.
Finally, the homework sheet can be easily adapted for use on writing up any of the other student DIY tasks (now for some maths!)
