This fully resourced lesson looks at the Electrolysis of Molten Compounds from the AQA Trilogy or GCSE Chemistry Specification The lesson has been designed such that all tasks and activities, along with their answers, are on the PowerPoint. This means that it is suitable for use even if you are unable to print due to COVID-19 restrictions. It would also be suitable for distance learning.

The lesson begins with a recap of displacement reactions, and ionic equations. It then moves on to look at the electrolysis of molten compounds and specifically the extraction of Aluminum from molten bauxite. The lesson then ends with an exam style question.

This lesson was originally aimed at a higher tier triple class, but there is no triple only content so would be suitable for a higher ability trilogy class.
