Electromagnetic waves - a really student-moving starter & a complete presentation with interesting examples for ALL 7 ranges of the spectrum!
Tired of telling students stories about the spectrum, or trying to find videos, received with little interest?
Print the sheets, copy the files, hide the cues in the classroom and you are done. Deliver it, and watch your students enjoying!! See short instructions (PDF) for details.
Aimed at 13-14-year-olds but should work anywhere between 12-16.
Introductory level, good for GCSE/IGCSE, IB MYP, or any class that is familiar with the basics of waves; no prior knowledge of EM waves is needed.
Presentation is provided as PDF (slide content will appear animated, with zero compatibility hassle, yeah!) but also as LibreOffice presentation (ODP), in case you would like to change anything; should open in MS PowerPoint as well. REALLY comprehensive introduction, with examples for each range of the spectrum from the lives of students of this age! They will love it!
Texts also in both format (PDF and ODT, which opens in MS Word). LibreOffice files had to be zipped (tes.com compatibility problem).
Teaching will take some 2-3 hours (3-4 45-min lessons). Split it up among the lessons as you wish.
All links to online content tested and working in July 2024. If you find a permanently broken link, send a note to me and Iβll send you one more lesson presentation material of your choice as a gift.
Have taught this for 6 years myself and tweaked it a bit each time to reach completion. Donβt hesitate to buy it, you will find true quality!
