The reading activities contain stretch and challenge, and also aim to present high-level language to French learners in a manner which allows them to manipulate the language for their own purposes.

- a matching activity linking the names of town buildings to definitions of their purpose in French;
- a matching activity linking the first part of a sentence on town buildings with an appropriate ending;
- a series of opinions on town life which must be classified as positive, negative or positive and negative;
- a cloze exercise based on a higher-level paragraph on town life and country life;
- a narrow reading exercise on town life;
- a reading comprehension with questions in English.
