English Language Non Fiction Fake or Fir Xmas Tree Opinion Article Analysing text and writing task

A comprehension activity based on Christmas trees and their impact on the environment and how they can affect a household’s carbon footprint. A balanced article looking at the benefits and drawbacks of fake and natural Xmas trees. Basic comprehension and language analysis, information finding and a transactional writing task. Students learn about the environment, carbon footprint issues and also gather ideas for writing non fiction. Suitable for English lessons, but also Environmental studies / Geography. This text is aimed at KS3 students, but can easily be modified to suit GCSE / KS4 classes.
