In several arid and semi-arid areas of Australia- notably SW Western Australia and the Flinders Ranges of South Australia visitors time their touring to coincide with weeks after downpours. This is in the hope that they will be able to see the phenomena listed as "the wildflowers". These are ephemeral plants noted for their spectacular colours. If their timing is right they will see the transformation of dry landscapes into carpets of flowers. The wildflowers season when it comes is of very short duration. This unit captures the presences and the short life cycle. It can be part of primary level observation and can link into senior secondary levels as a section on plant adaptation to arid environment. The final page attachment is provided in black and white.
