This is an ESL English lesson, tailored to the new Pearson Edexcel (2023) ESL GCSE examination series. The lesson focuses on the second unit: Education.

Students analyse the positives and negatives of different types of accommodation at university. They then choose a character and create their own type of accommodation for that person, justifying their choices. Most tasks are differentiated to accommodate those with a basic level of English, to the more proficient speakers.

Students get the chance to practice reading and writing skills in this lesson. The lesson could also be changed to assess listening and speaking skills (Listening the teacher reads out the information about each type of accommodation and students answer the questions. Speaking the students create a presentation for the final task to deliver).
