Two examples of diaries for KS2 English lessons. WAGOLL
The first text is the diary of a ghost whose house has suddenly been invaded by a new family. The second text is the diary of a witch's cat who is fed up with the hopelessness of his witch.
Both diaries contain an analysis of the language features to include in the pupils' own diaries.
These example texts can be used by pupils to:
- observe the features of diary writing
- rewrite the diaries using their own language or by borrowing phrases
- extend the diary examples with what happens next
- write a diary in the style of the author
These diaries are probably most suited to pupils in years 3 or 4.
