Expressing Ourselves with Drawing and Writing

The “Expressing Ourselves” activity sheets are designed to encourage self-awareness and self-expression among SEND and KS1 children.
Through picture-prompted answers and self-representation drawings, the lesson aims to combine comprehension, creativity, and communication among children.

There is a planning overview on how to use the worksheets and activities with objectives, resources needed, activity steps and extension ideas.

There are 2 worksheets that come in black and white and colour. Each sheet shows a child with symbols related to their likes and preferences. The picture cues support children in filling in the boxes e.g. My favourite colour is… or Soup I like is….

There is a sheet where children draw their own self-portrait and fill in their likes and preferences in response to the questions.
The final sheet is a template for teachers or children to use in their preferred way.
