Fallas is the biggest celebration in Valencia, happening in March. At this time of the year, it is clever making students educate you about the topic. This is a good introductory activity to start the conversation going.
The Fallas Bingo is supposed to reveal how much they are involved in this Valencian festival.
How to play:
You have to files. If you want to use the material digitally, then use the whole page where you see one bingo sheet.
If you prefer using printed material, then choose the pdf, where there are 4 identical bingo cards on one page, so you’ll need a pair of scissors to cut it up.
Students mark every statement that is true about themselves. If someone has four in a line (horizontally, vertically, or maybe even diagonally), they shout bingo. Wait until most of the students have a bing. Then ask a couple of them to read which statements got them a bingo and encourage them to discuss them. Why? When?
Of course, you can play the Fallas Bingo in many different ways. In another version, students must work in pairs, form questions based on the statements, and mark their partner’s answers. Or the whole class can get up and walk around and students ask different classmates the questions.
It is recommended for teenagers and adults, from about B1/ pre-intermediate level.
