This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Entry Level 3 (Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds and Open Awards). It contains an age-appropriate 200 slide PowerPoint lesson and a 66-page workbook on time.
The resources will help students achieve these outcomes:
To read, measure and record time using am and pm.
To read time from analogue and 24 hour digital clocks in hours and minutes.
To convert between 12 hour and 24 hour time.
To measure time in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades and centuries.
To extract information, measure and calculate times from tables and schedules including 24 hour bus and train timetables.
To extract information from calendars.
To solve word problems involving time.
Workbook
The 66-page workbook includes 20 information pages, 39 worksheets (with answers), 4 progress checks and a certificate of achievement. The resource is available in PDF and an editable PowerPoint version to enable personalisation of the resource. The workbook can be used for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.
PowerPoint Lesson
The PowerPoint lesson is ideal for introducing the time component of the Entry Level 3 specification and for revision purposes. It also contains links to several short videos on time - units of time, reading time from an analogue clock and reading time from a 24 hour digital clock.
