This download includes all slides and resources for a 10 lesson writing sequence, inspired by the text Gorilla by Anthony Browne. It produced very successful writing outcomes for a Year 3 cohort but could be tailored for other year groups.
The writing sequence is built up of initial text exploration, where children produce short writing pieces related to the text. From Lesson 5 onwards, children plan, draft, revise and edit a sequel to the original story, in which Hannah & Gorilla head off on a new adventure!
The download includes:
- Ready-to-go lesson slides (Both SMART Notebook & Microsoft PPT format) that are user friendly and take the teacher through the writing sequence step-by-step
- Clearly organised and user-friendly resources for 10 lessons including a starter for every lesson, activities, differentiated versions and word mats
- A PDF of the text
- A book cover page to go into writing books
