This assignment is designed for an ELA classroom, but can also be modified for a social studies assignment. Students use both print and online resources to research a "Great Thinker" who has made an important impact on society. Resources include handouts, PowerPoints, rubrics, and student samples to help students conduct research, formulate a quality thesis statement, create an outline, and revise a draft. Handouts are modifiable for teachers to determine number of sources and grading weights.
