Looking for HALLOWEEN Day games to read words with long vowels? Get your students excited about reading words with long vowel sounds using these easy-prep games. They will love playing these Halloween Roll and Read games which will help them to recognize these important graphemes and read words with different spelling patterns.

Differentiation is easy. Each vowel has a game with more frequent spelling patterns and a game that includes unusual graphemes and more challenging words.

Use the games to revise and consolidate learning about the different ways to spell words with a long a, e, i, o and u. Students will become more confident and fluent in their reading.

The resources are great for reading activities as part of a lesson. Use this as an independent game or as an adult-led activity where you can assess and teach about spelling patterns and reading strategies. Use these opportunities to discuss whether a specific spelling pattern is always at the beginning, middle or end of a word, whether there are exceptions, can they think of other words with this pattern, etc.

Challenge your students to use the blank templates and make up their own games individually or in pairs, then swap them and play with their peers.
