A whole lesson on the topic of holidays (can easily take 2 lessons)
This is differentiated throughout:
Categorise cards in the right column (cut out, laminate, give students to arrange under the right tense)
This task will allow students to revise the present, perfect and the future tense. (differentiated three times, use of colour for weaker students, use of the first person narrative (plural ) for higher ability students.
A slide aimed at questioning students on their knowledge of the tenses. Higher order questioning will be rewarded with more vivos.
Then students will independently research the new vocabulary for the lesson. Stick all pictures given around the classroom, put some music on and leave students to find the meaning of the vocabulary with a dictionary and with the support of the visual cues.
Feedback on vocabulary, students mark their work
Quick slide on the conditional tense endings for verbs finishing with er, ir and re
Matching task (print, laminate and cut out pictures and translations), students match the pictures to the correct translations)
Snakes and ladders to reinforce the vocabulary used (differentiated), one with the first letters of each words used in the matching task , another snake and ladders with no vocabulary support
Finally a vocabulary mat given for weaker students with all vocabulary seen in this lesson.
