This is a detailed presentation on 9 major revision styles namely; mind maps, challenge grids, flash cards, rehearsal, demonstration & performance, elaborative interrogation, glossary lists, quick fire round and infographics. The aim is to expose students to some main types of revision and ask them to practice every one in order to find the one that suits their learning and revision style the most. Silent mental rehearsal is defined at the start of the presentation to outline the basic principles of personal revision that each revision method ultimately leads up to. Silent mental rehearsal times can vary depending on the students, their needs and capabilities. Step-by-step instructions are given to students to organise their revision lesson effectively and logistically. Editable and printable templates are provided where applicable. ‘What a good one looks like’ is available where applicable to model to students what they should be aiming for. This powerpoint is intended to be carried out in PAUSE or REVISION lessons. From experience, one method is trialled at a time to allow students to see what each one is like for them. It could be planned into schemes of work for specifically scheduled lessons or given to students to practice one by one for homework. It could be done at department level for consistency or used with a particular class of students who are struggling to understand what to do exactly when one says ‘revise’.
