How to use Mircosoft Word - The basics

Intended to be an A5 booklet, this resource is a step-by-step guide with pictures on the basics of using Microsoft Word.
Contents examples:

• Open Word
• How to save work and open saved work
• change text font, size and colour
• highlighting and aligning text
• use Bolditalics and underline
• insert bullet points, tables, new page, columns, text boxes, shapes, pictures and borders
• using spelling and grammar check, thesaurus, dictionary and word art
• changing margins and orientation
• searching the text for key words.

It can be difficult when teaching ICT to ensure all the students know how to do these -what we would call- simple tasks. With this booklet you can show them once together and then promote their independent learning through the use of this booklet.
I had also attached an extra sheet which can be added to the back of the booklet - should you wish - to encourage students to be independent before they approach the teaching staff.
