KS2 Dictations

This is a Word doc resource with 15 simple dictations to use.
Each dictation links with a Spag/Writing topic such as conjunctions.

I made these to use weekly with my Year 3 class so there are enough for 1 whole term.
The first set are linked to ‘The Iron Man’ as they were studying this text, but they will also work as stand-alone dictations.
I read them out loud in repeated chunks.
I then ask different children to help me to spell out each word of the dictation on the board.
They tick or correct each word of their own dictation.
If you have time afterwards, they can double-up as a short handwriting exercise to copy off the board.
It is a great way to build focus and listening. I also use them as a way of recapping/consolidating a grammar or writing topic that we have recently covered.
