I made and used this with a Year 5 class who were really excited about it. One of my groups was supposed to be in an intervention but because they saw what we were going to do and asked if they could do it too, they were able to complete it as a group with an adult.

It ended up being spread over 2 lessons, as it did take quite a while to finish.

Overall, the students enjoyed it but did find it quite tricky; especially the coupons. This would be a nice activity to try with Year 6.

We did this on A3 paper and then shrunk it down to A4 to fit in their books.

The detailed lesson plan with curriculum links is included.

This is just what I was looking for! I teach learning disabled students in middle school. They do not have an understanding of what it costs to live. Thank you!
