I did this with my Year 3 class and their elephants turned out beautiful. We began by reading the story "A Pair of Twins" which is a gorgeously illustrated picture book about a little girl who wants to ride her elephant in the Dussehra Festival in Mysore, India (which is considered a man's job). It is such a lovely book and even I learned lots of new words (howdah, mahout). The children really enjoyed this and I like that it links into literacy, history and geography.

To bring even more authenticity to it we mixed Indian spices into the paint (cumin, turmeric, paprika, garam masala).

Thanks for sharing. Like the previous reviewer, I too wonder if you might upload the plan for lesson 2.

Thanks so much for this lovely resource - what a wonderful idea! Just wanted to kindly ask if there is a full page for Plan 2 of the Lesson plan, as just a small part seems to appear? Many thanks :)
