This resource can be used either as a stand-alone activity or as part of a unit of work, to develop both reading and research skills. It includes a teaching presentation and a 12 page resource which provides comprehensive teaching notes, accompanied by thumbnails of all the materials, plus the photocopiable pupil sheets. The activity is carefully staged to support pupils in developing independent reading, literacy and research skills.
The reading and research aspects of the activity are presented separately, with the research building on the work completed in the reading. There is, in addition, scope for developing grammatical understanding of gender and prepositions, and presentation skills.
