This resource is a series of quick 5 minute starters/‘do now’ activities, practising phonics, high frequency language, word classes and key structures. The starters are a mixture of writing & speaking activities.
Students are expected to complete an activity at the start of each lesson and then we quickly go through this with them, checking answers and addressing any gaps in knowledge/misconceptions.
The activities are designed to provide essential retrieval practice and reinforce students’ confidence with phonics, high frequency language and structures.
