This is a plan and resources for a KS1 RE lesson on Lent, with a focus on the theme of ‘Giving Something Up.’
The 5 page pdf lesson plan includes details of a group starter, a discussion, a drama activity, a group written activity, a poem writing activity and a plenary game. There are also differentiated targets, a list of resources and curriculum links and details about assessment for learning methods.
All activities are highly interactive and make the topic relevant to the children’s lives as well as introducing them to some facts about Lent and an event that happened during Jesus’ life.
There is a 15 slide PowerPoint presentation which contains details about Lent and the bible story used during the lesson. (This is not editable. Click ‘Read Only’ to open.) The differentiated templates for the poem writing activity and pictures for the group starter are also included.
The lesson could be used individually or as part of a Lent and Easter RE unit.
