Matilda Media unit

-This unit of work has been designed to support and assess pupils at 1st level CFE in English and language. Also transferable to other national curriculums - e.g. the lessons are designed to be transferable and universal for all learners.

The unit is designed by an English teacher with extensive experience in working with pupils who need extra support in literacy due to learning needs and abilities. It was designed to support candidates in their literacy specifically with a focus on writing about characters in film, sequencing plot and showing understanding of what we watch in film through a range of differentiated comprehension activities

-It can be used in a primary setting, ASN establishment for literacy and language work or in early secondary classes
-The unit focuses on and supports learners through the learning process by studying and writing about the following:

-Characters in film
-sequencing plot
-expressing and opinion - likes and dislikes

-The second part of the unit is based on comprehension - a range of questions have been designed to assess students’ understanding of:

-characters in film
-key scenes
-plot
